We are seeking volunteer community rangers to be a part of our Phase 2 buffer project!
The buffer is the first line of defence for the phase 2 area. It will consist of a line of over 730 devices installed at a high density which works to minimise the re-invasion of rats, stoats and weasels into the area. It runs from Ōwhiro Bay up through the green belt to Mt Cook and through to the waterfront, including key reserves Tawatawa, Manawa Karioi, Berhampore Golf Course and Prince of Wales Park - signifying where Phase 2 ends and Phase 3 begins.
The buffer is a community-led project run in conjunction with community trapping groups. As a community ranger you will be working in the town belt reserves helping to install, service and monitor devices. Community rangers are fully trained on eradication methods using traps and bait stations, as well as provided with all the necessary gear.
